Honest conversations, especially the uncomfortable ones, are where we see growth, and no one should be above reproach. Accountability is paramount; we cannot grow and become better leaders without it. I am passionate about advocating for public schools and believe they are the cornerstone of our country. Diversity in school leadership offers us new viewpoints and helps ensure we are giving our students a well-rounded, fact-based education. I value determination and believe the best way to expand your comfort circle is to step outside of it.

During my children's time in public schools, I've been involved with numerous CISD's PTOs. I've been a class party mom, volunteer coordinator, and head of the Student Activities Committee, where I organized and helped run book fairs. I serve on the leadership circle of Dignity for All Texas Students, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging in CISD and beyond.

I wanted LGBTQ+ students to know there are people in our community who support and love them. LED has allowed me to learn from fellow advocates, and I’ve made many wonderful connections along the way. LGBTQ+ students deserve a school where they feel welcome, and I will continue to advocate for them by finding ways to help.

"Family first, no exceptions" is the number one rule when it comes to work, and I encourage other leaders to do the same. I met my husband, Bently, in our church youth group when I was eighteen. We will celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, and he is my best friend and biggest supporter. We have two amazing daughters who share our sense of humor and adventure, and lots of furry children, including 2 dogs and 2 guinea pigs who bring much joy to our lives.

I love Sci-Fi, Star Wars, D&D, Marvel, DC, Doctor Who and zombie movies. My favorite game is Fallout 4. I come from a very musical family and play piano, write music, and sing. I enjoy crafting and am usually covered in glitter. I love space, and I'm often outside with my telescope during celestial events. I'm a novelist, and was inspired to write my book by my Girl Scouts after a weekend of camping in eleven degree weather.
